George Alley – ‘Choice To Be Bad’ and ‘Summer Trophies,’ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

I have a mixology certificate and love making weird cocktails when I throw parties! Occasionally, they go wrong, like the time I made everyone spiked vanilla protein shakes with jalapeños. But I love a highball and mostly default to a Gin and Tonic, especially with Spanish gin like Mahon.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new singles, ‘Choice To Be Bad’ and ‘Summer Trophies,’ are escaping on August 21st. These are the third and fourth singles from my self-titled album, ‘George Alley,’ which is available on streaming platforms and vinyl at Georgealley.bandcamp.com. Seven wild music videos were made all over the USA for these songs, in addition to a mini taped live concert. The band plans to tour the East Coast in the winter.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I used to see a psychic named ‘Sister Tina,’ who once broke an egg on my forehead, and it was filled with what looked like blood. She began to chant and told me that a curse was placed on me in a past life when I was an aristocratic woman in Paris who broke up a marriage by seducing a man. According to her, I’d always have romantic troubles. While I don’t want to be ‘cursed,’ I found that backstory pretty fabulous!”

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Vivienne Westwood’s clothing is a fusion of punk, fashion, 18th-century opulence, ancient artisanal folk crafts, profane and lewd slogans, subversive situationist philosophies, and often exclusive in its expense. I think the music I’m making is eclectic and has an aligned rebellious spirit.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

These songs span a wide range of genres, from punk and classic rock to electronic, ska, and folk, but they all end up being immensely personal pop songs about my life. I play with characters—whether they’re Kings or Starship Troopers—but ultimately, I’m telling my own stories through them.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Well, I started off as a dancer and hold a master’s degree in choreography. But my real talent lies in weaving secrets.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m playful, serious, sexual, austere and decadent.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started off in an incredibly wild noise band with Frank Musarra, (that featured vacuum cleaners and walkie-talkies), who later recorded under Hearts of Darknesses and became a producer. He produced several songs on this album, along with the executive producer Ian Romer. My mom was also a huge influence on my learning to play the piano; she was the singer/songwriter of a band in Detroit called ‘Electric Sh*t.’

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Question:

What would your character’s story arc be if you were finally in a James Bond film?

Answer:

“Thank you for asking! I would be wearing a lot of 90’s Gaultier and serve as both a love interest and villain to Daniel Craig’s Bond. Picture steamy scenes with him in St. Tropez, followed by a fierce confrontation after he discovers I’m behind a billion-dollar diamond heist or perhaps an elaborate tech scam. In the end, I’ll help him escape from someone even more evil, leading to another romantic encounter. But, true to my character, I’ll disappear before he wakes up, likely heading to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where it’s hinted that I’m involved in some mysterious scheme in the Gobi Desert.”
