Darin – ‚Electric‘ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

I’d recommend something that gets the adrenaline pumping, like a strong espresso or a refreshing energy drink.

Whatever gets you ready to dive into the intensity of the music!

2. Please give us an update about – your new single, tour dates and new video

My new single Electric was just released and I shot the video for it in Mallorca, Spain where I live at the moment. It was the first time I’ve ever worked while spending time there, which was exciting.

I have a tour coming up in Sweden this summer, with more concerts planned for the fall, which will hopefully include London!

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I’ve heard about one that says there are secret portals hidden across the world. Accessible only to those who know the exact locations. These portals could lead to other realms filled with advanced technology, or even alternate versions of our own reality. It would be amazing if that existed.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

My music spans a lot of different styles and genres. So I would probably pick a brand like Celine, as they are quite diverse in their designs.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics? Messages?

I like to write about things that have happened to me in life, which could be anything really. From heartbreak to celebrating life. My latest song Electric is about a very strong connection to someone. For me, it’s a special memory of a night in Palma. It was the night I met the love of my life for the first time. It was a crazy intense feeling I didn’t expect and wasn’t prepared for. I sometimes describe it like a magnetic pull and I think the song touches on that feeling and that force.

6. Besides music, do you have any special talents?

I love to paint! I find it extremely relaxing and it helps me switch off from the outside world when I’m in that creative state.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?

I take inspiration from everything around me that I see, hear and experience. I listen to a lot of different music genres and I like to travel and meet people from other parts of the world and other cultures. That inspires me and helps me grow both as a person and an artist I think. During my first years as an artist, I was lucky enough to work with producers and writers like RedOne, Max Martin and Jörgen Elofsson. I was very inspired and learned a lot about how to write and build a song from those sessions and collaborations. That has definitely helped me as a writer. I love being a big part of the visuals. Everything from music videos, photos, artwork, styling etc. That’s something I enjoy a lot. Singing is the reason I do this. It’s a very natural way for me to express myself, maybe even more than speaking. And I’ve done it as long as I can remember. It’s where I feel the most powerful as well, when I’m singing and playing live on stage. For many years I had my own record company in Sweden, due to the record labels not believing in one album I had recorded. No one wanted to sign it, so I started my record company, put all the money I had into it, which was such a big risk for me. I could have lost everything I owned. But I felt like I had to do it. That album is my most successful so far. So I’m very proud of that whole moment.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play?

Lady Gaga said it best “ I was born this way“ haha, joke aside, singing was natural to me from a very young age. Writing on the other hand, was something I think comes from storytelling when I was a kid. Later on I combined the two, writing and music, and started writing songs cause it seemed like the natural thing to do for me wanting to become an artist. I started as a writer for other singers in the business at the age of 14 and two years later I was signed by a record label and focused on writing for myself.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?!

Question – Are you twisted? Answer – Aren’t we all?
