The Iconica Collection from Havana Club, like no other rum, embodies the rich heritage and vibrant culture of Cuba, as well as the craftsmanship of the Maestros del Ron Cubano. It comprises three exceptionally high-quality rums from the multi-award-winning rum producer, who, for more than five decades, has been a pioneer of continuous aging, cultivating the Cuban tradition of premium rum and bringing the island’s flavors to life. This unique quality is now also visually reflected in the newly designed Iconica bottles.
Havana Club Selección de Maestros boasts the highest alcohol content in the Iconica range and is bottled at cask strength. This exceptional rum is crafted collaboratively by all of Havana Club’s Maestros del Ron Cubano and is characterized by a warm amber hue and deep red highlights. The new bottle design, inspired by Havana’s sunbeams and interlocking iron elements, symbolizes the collaborative process by which the Maestros select only the finest casks for bottling. With smoky oak and spice notes, this rum is smooth, pleasant, and aromatic on the palate. Aromas of roasted pecans and spices indicate aging in wooden barrels. The rounded mouthfeel leads to a complex, aromatic, and full-bodied flavor of cocoa, coffee, sweet tobacco, and brown spices. The pleasant finish of smoky oak and spices combined with candied fruits gives the taste experience a remarkable balance.
Aged for at least 15 years, the Havana Club Gran Reserva Añejo 15 Años is the only rum in the collection with an age statement. The new bottle, featuring a sophisticated wraparound pattern, hints at the rum’s smoothness and beautifully highlights its rich mahogany color, bright, full-bodied flavor, and meticulous blend. The exceptionally long, quality-enhancing aging process results in a luxurious, rounded mouthfeel with incomparably soft tannins and a rich, fruity aroma of dried fruits, plums, and raisins, complemented by distinct oak notes. The finely tuned composition, with flavors of sweet fruits, chocolate, coffee, tobacco, and spices, creates a smooth texture on the palate and a long, complex finish with hints of vanilla and cocoa.
The pinnacle of the collection is marked by an icon of Cuban rum, Havana Club Máximo Extra Añejo, of which only a maximum of 1,000 bottles are produced annually. This rare rum is presented in a mouth-blown glass decanter, which, following its relaunch, elevates the image of the entire portfolio to the next level. The rum’s deep amber hue, further enhanced by additional aging, is beautifully showcased by the modernized design. On the nose, this rum is exceptionally rich, intense, and persistent. It boasts a delicate aroma that perfectly balances oak and smoky notes with subtle hints of fresh pear, coconut, and dried fruit. Its dry yet sweet oak notes convey a silky opulence and a burst of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and a touch of vanilla. Its warm, long finish has spicy notes.
