Junghans dives into the depths of the oceans, bringing four newcomers to the dive center. The Aquaris Red and Aquaris Blue are powerful and robust sports watches that shy away from no challenge, whether on land or in the water. The Aquaris Diver, in green and orange, appears even sportier, dedicated entirely to scuba diving.
All Aquaris models offer depth. This starts with the striking, cushion-shaped stainless steel case, which, with a diameter of 46.9 millimeters, underscores the watch’s robustness. It is water-resistant to 50 bar, which corresponds to the pressure at a depth of 500 meters. This is more than sufficient for a watch designed for scuba diving. A centrally positioned crown guard helps protect the two screw-down crowns from damage. The crown at the 4 o’clock position is responsible for winding the movement and setting the time, while the crown at the 2 o’clock position controls the inner rotating bezel located behind the crystal. As is necessary with a diver’s watch, it can only be turned counter-clockwise.
The movement is powered by the J830 caliber, an automatic movement reserved exclusively for Junghans. It offers a 48-hour power reserve and is shielded against magnetic fields, which can affect accuracy, by soft iron components. Watch enthusiasts will appreciate the modifications created by Junghans‘ experts, such as the custom train bridge, as well as a special rotor and balance cock. The movement is protected by a solid steel case back, the design of which varies depending on the model. The Aquaris models also differ in the dial colors and features.
Professional Underwater – Aquaris Diver
The Aquaris Diver is a modern instrument watch with a high-contrast dial. The dial is a matte dark gray, and the striking hands and applied indices are generously coated with the white luminescent material X1-Grade-Green. After being charged with natural or artificial light, it glows with an intense green hue for an extended period. This ensures excellent legibility even in challenging lighting conditions, such as those often encountered underwater. As a true diver’s watch, the first 15 minutes on the rotating bezel are highlighted in color, either green or orange. This corresponds to the outline of the arrowhead on the minute hand. The minute hand is particularly prominent because the minute is the most important unit of time for scuba divers. The hour and second hands are visually understated, reflecting their importance. The plaque on the steel case back features a three-dimensional relief of a school of fish.
The Aquaris Diver can be worn on either a three-link stainless steel bracelet or a synthetic rubber strap. The steel bracelet features a folding clasp with two extension options. First, there’s the standard folding extension found on dive watches, which adds 26 mm of length. Second, there’s Junghans‘ proprietary ratchet adjustment with a 22 mm extension option. The latter can be operated even when the clasp is closed. A click-ball locking mechanism prevents accidental opening of the clasp, while the quick-release function allows for easy strap changes. Each watch also comes with a robust synthetic rubber strap in orange or black – including a dive extension.
Sporty on every level – Aquaris Red and Aquaris Blue
The Aquaris Red and Aquaris Blue each feature a color-coordinated sunburst dial and rotating bezel. The strong, vibrant colors give both watches a confident and contemporary look. Their bold baton hands are coated with luminescent material, ensuring excellent legibility. The clean lines of the hands underscore the character of a modern sports watch. This is further enhanced by the steel case back, which is engraved with a maritime motif. Technically, the Aquaris Red and Aquaris Blue are identical to the Aquaris Diver.
However, there are slight differences in the strap options. Both sports models come with the stainless steel bracelet of the Aquaris Diver. A synthetic rubber strap is also included with each model. The Aquaris Red has a black strap, while the Aquaris Blue has a blue strap that matches the dial. Both straps are fitted with a user-friendly Junghans folding clasp made of stainless steel.
Those who prefer striking, modern sports watches will likely opt for the Aquaris Red or Aquaris Blue, while divers and enthusiasts of instrument watches will find the Aquaris Diver to be the perfect choice. Either way, you’ll be seen everywhere wearing a modern, functional sports watch – whether you’re enjoying water sports, at the office, or at the bar.
