The active ingredient cineole (pronounced cineole) is a highly potent antioxidant and free radical scavenger that protects the skin from oxidative stress, irritation and inflammation. Cineole is obtained from the leaves of the eucalyptus. Dr. Britta Kuehlmann, a renowned expert in the field of plastic-aesthetic surgery with in-depth dermatological expertise, came across the powerful effects of the ingredient during her research at Stanford University in the USA. She realized that cineole – until now mainly used to treat respiratory diseases – has extraordinary and diverse positive properties on the skin.
There are over 600 eucalyptus species worldwide from which cineole can be obtained. CINEOLUX products use 1,8-cineole, also known as cineole or eucalyptol. Dr. Kuehlmann recognized the previously unknown regenerative potential of cineole, which increases the proportion of the skin’s own ceramide content and thus improves the appearance of the skin. In addition, cineole helps to stimulate autophagy, the self-cleaning process of cells. This in turn improves cell renewal and collagen production, supports the barrier function and helps prevent skin aging.
Cineole is used in synthetic form for CINEOLUX products. The big advantage of this nature-identical production: Cineole is always in its purest form, is particularly skin-friendly thanks to the additional encapsulation used, and its high concentration is absolutely constant.
Since cineole is a particularly strong antioxidant, even much stronger than vitamin C, it is used in the CINEOLUX products in encapsulated form via Smart Lipid Technology. This encapsulation with beeswax (there are only two manufacturers in Germany that offer this process) makes the Cineole optimally tolerated and also suitable for sensitive skin conditions. In addition, a retard function can be enabled so that cineole is released into the skin over a longer period of time and does not „fizzle out“ on the skin’s surface. The active ingredient even penetrates the deeper layers of the epidermis into the dermis to stimulate collagen synthesis at the target site. In contrast to other antioxidants such as vitamin C or retinol, the cineole molecule is very robust and less sensitive to light and air.
The Smart Lipid technology enables the cineole molecules to be integrated into the CINEOLUX products in a very stable form, so that long-term effectiveness is guaranteed.
