Chronic Fatigue – EP „Surrender To Serenity“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

The cheapest beer you can possibly find. Crack it open on a bus and enjoy.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

We just released our second EP Surrender To Serenity this month, and dropped a music video for it that we’re super excited about. We also recently shot a music video for our song Pyro, which, like the Serenity video, is very inspired by skate culture. Can’t wait for people to see that.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

  1. Our drummer taught himself how to play drums when he was skipping out on youth group activities at church.
  2. We’re a part of an amazing local scene here in Vancouver. If we can make a couple shoutouts – Muppet Boys, New Age Doom, Kama Sutra Murder, The Exit Strategy, Lunchtime and After the Fox are all ridiculously dope local bands. Between that and the Canucks being good again, it’s a pretty decent time to be here.
  3. Our bass player had never played bass before Chronic Fatigue – he learned how to play to play in this band.
  4. We’re all very well read and intelligent (and very handsome for the most part).
  5. We took so long trying to answer this question and couldn’t come up with a single answer together so I just came up with these on the spot (they are true though except for #4)

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Baroque (broke).

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

We’re super down with the birds aren’t real movement. Cause they’re not. And they maybe got JFK.

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

This is more specific to our hometown of Vancouver, not the industry at large, but I think the city needs to place more value on and protect arts spaces and venues. It’s already incredibly difficult to live here, and the city makes it very difficult to open and run spaces for art and live music. These things are so important to the cultural identity of any city, and there’s so much more that could be done to support artists, venue owners and everyone else who are making exciting things happen.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

It’s a range of things, but at the end of the day the band is all about playing shows, building community, and having a good time. We don’t take ourselves too seriously – we just wanna spread positivity and give people a great time. Musically, we’re always trying to capture the energy and chaos of our live shows. That’s why we put in all the time and effort, we love playing live more than anything. Seeing people mosh to our music feeds my soul.

8.  A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls.

No one has ever asked me about my favourite Star Trek Cameo. If asked I would probably say Tom Morello appearing in an episode of Star Trek Voyager. A close second, also on Voyager, would be the Rock who has a cage match with Seven of Nine and he does the eyebrow thing.
