Chloé – NOMADE Lumière d’Égypte

Since 2018, the Nomade fragrance series has been considered a symbol of the free-spirited spontaneity of the Chloé woman. An invitation to travel and look outward rather than inward, Nomade is an olfactory journey for the confident woman – a woman who follows her intuition and is deeply anchored in her own authenticity. She travels light and doesn’t think twice. She follows her own rhythm, she is free.

As with Nuit d’Égypte, Egypt served as a source of inspiration for the new nomad chapter Lumière d’Égypte, because Egypt is the birthplace of Chloé founder Gaby Aghion. With her progressive and independent style, Gaby Aghion broke new ground that was daring for her time. As allies of women, their fashion designs accompanied the changing role of women in society. She felt like a Parisian, but often spoke about the colors of Egypt and her memories of the landscape bathed in a warm glow.

In search of new horizons, Lumière d’Égypte takes us on a journey along the Nile, on whose banks the blue lotus grows. These native water lilies have always been considered to have sacred properties. The flower opens with the first rays of light of the day and closes in the afternoon. It exudes a soft floral scent, airy and delicate, and in the new composition combines with the unmistakable sweetness of jasmine and the earthy, intoxicating notes of Kyphi – an incense blend that was considered sacred in the ancient perfumery of Egypt and the first known perfume of people was. Recipes for Kyphi were discovered by archaeologists in the Temple of Horus in Edfu and the Temple of Hathor in Dendera. The substance was burned by priests in ancient times in honor of the god Ra and was also used for medicinal purposes. The ancient alchemical art of Kyphi has been reinterpreted by the master perfumers of the Egyptian-inspired Chloé Nomade fragrance series.

When creating Lumière d’Égypte, Cécile Matton was inspired by the Nile: the cool water, the lush vegetation along the banks and the dry heat of the desert beyond, bathed in the magical light of Egypt. She was impressed by the mysterious life force that follows the rhythm of the sun.

In the top note, a supple accord of blue lotus blossom at dawn unfolds a delicate, aquatic aroma that exudes a green, airy florality. The lotus accord is enveloped by jasmine, evoking the sweet heat of a summer night. With fruity and animalic accents, Jasmin Grandiflorum provides a fascinating, velvety warmth.

The base note is characterized by a sensual minerality – like a breeze blowing over the dunes. Spicy and exuberant nuances of pink berries and elemi oil round out the fragrance, revealing a Kyphi accord made from a special blend of essential oils – including cinnamon bark, sandalwood and myrrh.

Nomade Lumière d’Égypte Eau de Parfum is presented in the iconic bottle of the series. The band around the neck of the bottle is a bright blue. The campaign’s motifs show the bottle against the backdrop of old ceramic plates in the style of antique pottery, glazed in an intense Mediterranean blue and painted with lotus flowers.
