Egypt is the birthplace of Chloé founder Gaby Aghion, whose pioneering spirit and vision redefined Parisian fashion and empowered women. The Egyptian landscape, with its vast desert and lush valleys, remained in Gaby Aghion’s memory as a magical place, bathed in warmth and wondrous light. After Nuit d’Égypte and Lumière d’Égypte, Chloé opens the third chapter of the Nomade fragrance line with Jardin d’Égypte.
A Symbol of Renewal
The new Eau de Parfum Jardin d’Égypte pays tribute to the symbolic papyrus plant. This aquatic plant thrives in the fertile Nile Delta. Considered sacred in ancient Egypt, papyrus represents eternal life and constant renewal. It is expressed through vibrant, green notes that blend with the earthy, captivating aromas of kyphi, an incense blend and the earliest known perfume of humankind. Recipes for kyphi were discovered in the Temple of Horus in Edfu and the Temple of Hathor in Dendera. In antiquity, priests burned the substance in honor of the god Ra and also used it for medicinal purposes. The ancient alchemical art of kyphi has been reinterpreted by perfumers as an essential ingredient in the Egypt-inspired Chloé Nomade fragrance line.
A Lush Oasis
Jardin d’Égypte is an intense, vibrant green fragrance, for which perfumer Caroline Dumur drew inspiration from a lush garden brimming with fresh greenery, sweet flowers, and fruit trees.
The fragrance opens with the sun-kissed notes of cassia blossom. Its delicate sweetness blends with the vegetal freshness of papyrus, evoking memories of a summer garden at dawn. This radiant opening is joined by honeyed accents of sun-dried dates and delicious fig accords—opulent notes that lend the composition a sense of maturity and warmth.
As the fragrance develops, the heart reveals the captivating depth of the Kyphi accord, the signature essence of the collection. This ancient, alchemical blend of essential oils combines spicy cinnamon bark with the creamy richness of sandalwood and resinous myrrh.
In the drydown, the fragrance gains further intensity with a special solarwood accord combined with the velvety smoothness of sandalwood oil and musky ambrette absolute. The interplay of woody and resinous notes lingers with irresistible sensuality and depth.
Chloé Nomade Jardin d’Égypte is presented in the fragrance line’s iconic bottle, adorned with a vibrant green band. The design echoes the lush greenery of the campaign images, depicting a papyrus plant with its stems and grass-like leaves reaching towards the sunny sky. A poetic moment in dialogue with nature.
