In 1952, Gaby Aghion founded the fashion house Chloé with a new vision: to liberate women’s bodies from the strict constraints of haute couture. Following her intuition, she redefined women’s clothing and created a fashion of freedom that surpassed the creations of the French fashion houses of that era. Her philosophy, shaped by her connections to the artistic and intellectual scene, found expression in typical Parisian venues on the Left Bank: here she presented her first collections. Her distinctive style blends diverse design elements, merging the flair of Paris with the atmosphere of the Mediterranean. At the same time, she remains true to her cultural heritage. In keeping with this pioneering vision, Atelier des Fleurs focuses on free-spirited, instinctive beauty, driven by emotions and accentuated by exceptional savoir-faire.
The Mediterranean Essences
For Gaby Aghion, the Mediterranean region is an inexhaustible source of inspiration that significantly influences the world of Chloé. Together with Karl Lagerfeld, she regularly spent days by the sea in Ramatuelle, where she found the ideas for her free, instinctive designs. Her creations are interwoven with these landscapes. Sun-drenched, flowing, and pleated silhouettes play with the nuances of sand, earth, and stone.
The Mediterranean Essences by Atelier des Fleurs embraces this inspiration. The fragrance collection remains true to the house’s philosophy, painting a naturalistic, sensual portrait of the Mediterranean coast, far removed from the usual postcard imagery. The fragrances play with the olfactory depiction of sun-drenched landscapes and evoke a more intimate side of the South of France: walks along sunny coastal paths, the crunch of pine needles underfoot, and the scent of hot sand.
The Mediterranean Essences explore the unknown facets of familiar ingredients. They reveal the depth and unique character of hidden paths, wild garrigue vegetation, and the pine forests of the South.
The Plissé Soleil, the symbol of the fashion house, which creates delicate pleats in the fabric, inspires the olfactory signature of Atelier des Fleurs. The Mediterranean Essences capture this symbol through rays of light in every creation.
Atelier des Fleurs Sable Lavande by Quentin Bisch
With Atelier des Fleurs Sable Lavande, perfumer Quentin Bisch reveals a delicate, warm side of lavender, rather than its classic aromatic facets. The fragrance remains true to Chloé’s unmistakable fluidity, like soft sand slipping through your fingers. The nuances are accentuated by a solar fig accord and enhanced by Ambrofix for an untouched and contrasting intensity. The enveloping scent evokes that timeless moment when the heat of the Mediterranean sand subsides and a soft, damp twilight descends.

Atelier des Fleurs Vert Soleil by Quentin Bisch
With Atelier des Fleurs Vert Soleil, perfumer Quentin Bisch puts mastic, a rarely used ingredient in perfumery, center stage. This aromatic shrub, typical of Mediterranean garrigue and maquis vegetation, thrives in the dry coastal areas where the flora merges with the sea. As the essence of the Mediterranean coast, this note reflects Chloé’s Mediterranean roots and plays with the sun-drenched and contrasting elements that have always inspired the house. Mastic is prized in perfumery for its resinous nuances. In this composition, the notes reveal a brighter side, unveiling green, juicy nuances underscored by green mandarin. This combination creates a dynamic, zesty radiance. A floral composition with plant freshness, warmed by an enveloping base note of musk and wood.

Atelier des Fleurs Plage du Figuier by Ane Ayo
With Atelier des Fleurs Plage du Figuier, perfumer Ane Ayo reinterprets the fig as a symbolic ingredient of southern France. Inspired by Gaby Aghion’s connection to Ramatuelle, Saint-Tropez, and the surrounding area, the fragrance captures the atmosphere of a nearby, real place: La Plage du Figuier. In the heart of this composition, the fig reveals its secret blossom, transforming into a fruit and becoming one with its own flesh. The fig lends Plage du Figuier a radiant florality, further refined by orange blossom, a truly Mediterranean olfactory signature. With its warm, sun-drenched character, the fragrance exudes juicy, soft facets and unfolds its rounded, balanced silhouette without lapsing into cloying opulence.

Atelier des Fleurs Sous les Pins by Quentin Bisch
Atelier des Fleurs Sous les Pins by perfumer Quentin Bisch is an homage to Porquerolles, an iconic island in the French Mediterranean. This unique fragrance is conceived as an olfactory portrait of a landscape in its original setting. Using innovative extraction technology, the essence of an island path is faithfully captured: beneath sun-warmed pines, bark and needles crunch underfoot with every step, while the warm breeze, imbued with woody aromas, carries the vibrant, resinous notes of eucalyptus. The local flora reveals itself in highly volatile molecules. A sensual experience that brings the character of this sun-drenched landscape to life. This warm and subtle fragrance evokes the invigorating, aromatic atmosphere of a walk through Mediterranean pine forests.
