In Chloé’s Atelier des Fleurs collection, talents from the world of perfume art spotlight absolutely unique flowers. In doing so, they pay tribute to Gaby Aghion’s groundbreaking vision and show the versatility of species that are yet so perfect with their imperfect charm. Always with the aim of revealing the beauty of the unexplored.
In 2019, perfumer Quentin Bisch created a unique fragrance for Atelier des Fleurs inspired by the idea of a bouquet made of woods. Cedrus was created from cedar wood, vetiver and sandalwood. The combination of these three essences resulted in a fragrance full of radiance, further enhanced by a refreshing, slightly spicy accord of top notes. Cedar wood showed a completely new side and revealed its complexity with delicate, aromatic and amber facets.
Cedrus quickly became the most iconic fragrance in the collection.
Now Chloé reinterprets this iconic fragrance. Cedrus Intense enters the arena and pays impressive tribute to Cedrus‘ unique olfactory signature. The creation comes from a relationship with another perfumer: the original accord was redesigned jointly by Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner and allows cedar wood to shine at its maximum intensity. The three woody notes of the fragrance take on a new dimension: Cedrus Intense brings together cedar wood from China, sand vetiver from India and sandalwood from Australia. Each of these variants reveals unexpected facets and permeates the fragrance with its respective strength of character.
Exceptionally high concentrations of noble ingredients, assertive notes that merge or collide with each other… Cedrus Intense is a fragrance with several surprising dimensions, all of which correspond to a free, instinctive and confident femininity. In a duet, Louise Turner and Quentin Bisch intensify the original vision. With their combined creative talent, the two have created an altogether more intense, powerful and profound fragrance. A composition befitting cedar wood – a sublime tree that symbolizes nobility and justice.
Like Cedrus, the new interpretation opens with sparkling notes of bergamot and cardamom. The dynamic chord of the top notes gains strength and depth with a flood of foliage with dark tones.
The heart of Cedrus is dominated by rose, Chloé’s emblematic flower of femininity. The rose also sets striking accents in Cedrus Intense and, in combination with Cypriol, develops its generously leafy notes with new, leathery facets. This is followed by a trio of woods from around the world, meticulously selected by Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner. Smoky cedar wood from China meets the sharp minerality of Indian sand vetiver. This is accompanied by Australian sandalwood with pure but creamy tones. Each of these exceptional woods expresses its own subtle and unexpected facets.
Combined in the inspiration of two perfumery talents, cedar wood, vetiver and sandalwood form an olfactory base note that points towards the sky with flowing movements. The result is a striking chord with an impressive, long-lasting finish that pays homage to a feminine energy.
