G-SHOCK today announced the launch of a new model in the MR-G series – the premium line within the shock-resistant G-SHOCK brand family. The new MRG-BF1000RG, another model in the FROGMAN dive watch line, is inspired by the world’s largest frog: the Goliath frog.
FROGMAN watches are known for their asymmetrical design, specifically developed to allow unrestricted wrist movement underwater. The MRG-BF1000R, released in 2023, set new standards in functionality and craftsmanship with a highly water-resistant titanium case and meticulously polished finish.
The new MRG-BF1000RG builds on this legacy, drawing visual inspiration from the Goliath frog, native to the tropical rainforests of West Africa. The color scheme and design evoke a sense of adventure and reflect the allure of untouched nature.
The khaki-colored strap, inspired by the back coloring of the Goliath frog, is made of particularly soft, flexible fluororubber and ensures a high level of comfort. The beige indices, reminiscent of the frog’s underside, are coated with Neobrite, ensuring excellent legibility even in low light.
The screwed-down titanium case back features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal enhanced with a vibrant green vapor deposition – inspired by the Goliath frog’s characteristic eye. Despite the robust construction, the built-in antenna for radio reception remains fully functional.
In dive mode, the hour and minute hands overlap into a single hand to intuitively display the dive time. Three dual-coil motors enable particularly fast hand movements, ensuring seamless and efficient transitions between the current time and dive time – a real advantage for professional underwater use.
