1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
Our new track is a lot heavier and gritty than our previous material, it has a strong narrative and really full production featuring all the elements of classic soul with a contemporary feel. It really is a cinematic, intense song! We would choose a full bodied red to really sink into this song!
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
‘You are’ comes out on the 18th of April nearly two years on from our last release! We are celebrating its release with a performance in the classy but cosy Piano Smithfield in London. Tickets are now on sale and it will be a perfect way for people to discover our new sound as well as hear the rest of our catalogue and some of our favourite soulful covers. If you miss this, you can catch us in Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on the 3rd of September.
As well, we have a music video coming! It’s an exciting action filled video with an ambiguous plot line that we filmed in the beautiful Sandridge Park manor, Wiltshire which has been graced by many icons such as David Bowie and Bob Dylan.
3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a Duo?!
-Well, we are twins which is a defining aspect of us as a duo! It means our creative process is very easy… almost like writing a song with yourself!
-We were born two minutes apart!
-We are both inspired by anything from the past, whether it’s fashion, music etc…we’d basically live in the 80s if we could.
-Collectively we have a four octave range…and we definitely like to put that to the test in our music!
-Although we collaborate with other writers and producers we both write, record, produce and play on most of our tracks!
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
We reckon our music style could match well with a combination of classic style, streetwear and something preppy. We love classic sounds but with a slightly modern twist.
5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which harmless theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
Hmm great question! We watch far too many programs about crazy conspiracies which keeps us talking for hours! As kids we were convinced the Loch Ness Monster was real after visiting Loch Ness, that could be quite an interesting turn of events if that happened to be true!
6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Music seems to be getting shorter, we love a long track or an album! Bring back the long music we say! Two minute songs just aren’t enough for us and certainly trying to cram our creativity into a short song is difficult for most artists! It would be really cool to hear more of what we love!
7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
Our tracks always have an ambiguous message or narrative as there’s multiple people writing them. Usually our twin intuition syncs up and we have a similar theme for a song but we take inspiration from films, personal experiences etc so that the tracks aren’t restricted. This also means our audience has a track which they can relate to their personal thoughts and experiences. One thing we always hope is that our records resonate with individuals in a unique way so that our writing can be personal to everyone and not just tell a story exactly how it was experienced by one of us.
8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
Something we are rarely asked about is what we are most passionate about creatively. Although music creation, writing and performance are three very important parts of what we do, the most important element is the voice. We are real nerds about the ins and outs of the voice and our biggest passion is creating a vocal performance that can truly be understood by the listeners. Singing is such a natural thing but people often forget the science behind creating sounds and how the creation of different sounds can make a person feel something unique.
Running choirs and vocal coaching was our main career until performing took over for the most part so we aim to really intricately design our vocals and manipulate our voices with a lot of thought when recording.
