Bailey Hyneman – “Better Days” + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

I am loving my tea’s at the moment – I have a blend of loose-leaf tea that I carry around in my bag with me which has rose petals, hibiscus, camomile, eucalyptus, mullein and sage!

If you’re listening in the evening a dirty martini will also work.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My latest single is called “Anouk” and it’s a song that really came to life through lived experience and it journeys through the relationship between me and my best friend. I think that connection and love in your twenties is so important to have as a constant. I wanted to have something that captured this feeling so we could look back, play “Anouk” and laugh.

I will be releasing the rest of the album this year and then there will be lots of opportunities to come and see it live which I can’t wait for!! Playing live really feels like a piece of me and something that I have to do so sharing a space with people that love the music is the cherry on top.

We are also looking forward to creating some visuals – I have so many ideas and I’m sure they will come to life when the time is right.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I would love for aliens to be real, imagine grabbing a pint with an alien. Would be hilarious.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Chic/ edgy.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I write songs when I feel like I need to and it always leads me to where I need to be – I don’t think anyone ever regrets creating because it’s such a great way of untangling any confused thought or just decompressing after a hectic day.

I have explored topics around love, loss, platonic love, mental health. I guess my message is to sit with whatever you’re feeling, it’s okay to be emotional and fragile and it’s also okay to be loud and exited about life. Both sides are very real and have a right to exist. I just think expression is a beautiful thing.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I love cooking, it’s very therapeutic for me and definitely feels like another art form. I especially love cooking for friends and family!!

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  1. My number one aim is to create and use my art to better myself and others.
  2. My family will probably be in the crowd for every single gig because they are the best.
  3. I was 7 when I wrote my first song and I plan to keep going forever.
  4. Amy Winehouse was a huge part of why I started singing – I used to lock myself in my bathroom with my sisters phone at the age of 7 and sing along with Amy for hours.
  5. I live through music and therefore I couldn’t live without it

8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

My family are beyond supportive and my manager Dom has been incredible. It’s been just us doing a lot of the admin for years and I wouldn’t have been able to do a lot of it without his continued support.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Who would be your dream band dead or alive? It would be a girl band with Karen Carpenter on drums, Sister Rosetta Tharpe shredding on guitar and Bjork on synths.
