Aron Dahl – „Losing You“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

A whisky sour

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released a new single and video last month, it’s called Losing You and is a breakup song about divorce and fisting. It’s from my new album, Moth/Flame, that comes out Nov 1st.

Playing a few shows to support the new album, in Scandinavia for now, but hoping to come play in Germany in the future.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Ok, I have two, the super nerdy one is that Jar Jar Binks is actually THE Dark Sith Lord pulling all the strings in Star Wars but that it was just too shocking to reveal.

The other one is that Elvis Presley is still alive 🙂

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

This one is really hard. I don’t really associate with brands. Maybe Adidas? Versatile, can be worn at the gym, at the rave and the dungeon. Not sure about the whole Kanye thing though…

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

The songs on Moth/Flame are all about existential horniness. Trying to find oneself in the eyes of someone else. Queer love songs.

Ficken-3000 is named after the bar where I went cruising for the first time by myself. Maybe it sounds silly but it was a really profound and almost spiritual experience for me. Lock&Key is about power dynamics, dualism, the Tarot, and about opposing roles and energies (water and fire in this case). Losing You is about heartbreak, uncoupling and proximity: From having been inside someones body to maybe never seeing them again.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I’m also an experimental filmmaker, I’ve done most of my music videos myself. Working on the script for a television series currently. I’m pretty good at cooking and I’m a good dancer.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I don’t think there’s anything one absolutely have to know about me as an artist. But here are some fun facts in no particular order:

  1. I work with a lot of different music, contemporary chamber music has been my «day job» for a few years, also played saxophone, live techno, ambient etc for years.
  2. 99% of my lyrics are autobiographical, trying to describe a feeling or situation as accurately as possible
  3. I work out all my life decisions and get ideas while sweating on the dance floor
  4. I have an irrational fear of stickers, particularly on fruits and vegetables.
  5. I was almost beaten up on stage once by a faded 90’s pop star during a gig in a rural town in Norway. The bouncer had to interject. To be fair we played incredibly loud harsh noise at a local pub at 02.00 in the morning, but we were booked to do just that. It was packed when we started, and when we stopped playing there were only two people left in the audience. Those two were so excited though!

8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

My friends and my chosen family have sticked around the whole time, I feel very grateful to have them in my life.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

If you could pick a name for the genre of your music you do, what would it be?

Trying to get the term #cringecore to take hold: Very earnest (too earnest?) lyrics and off-kilter productions.
