ARMEDANGELS is taking a decisive step towards material-based innovation, launching a windbreaker developed in collaboration with the Lenzing Group, Montebelo and Hermin, that challenges the status quo of functional outerwear for Spring/ Summer 2026. A unique design made from a completely wood-based ripstop fabric made out of 100% TENCELTM Lyocell fibres, the product marks the brand’s entry into cellulose-based performance outerwear, combining technical innovation with sustainable, resource- conscious material design.
Lightweight, wind-resistant and breathable, the windbreaker has been created for everyday urban life and effortless movement between city and nature. Crafted using 100% TENCELTM Lyocell fibres with a fabric that offers a naturally dry hand feel, exceptional softness and resistance to odour- causing bacteria.
Tightly woven with a membrane-free construction, the fabric delivers effective wind protection while remaining highly breathable, supporting natural thermoregulation by releasing excess heat and moisture.
Quick-drying, lightweight and comfortable against the skin, the windbreaker’s performance is engineered for transitional seasons and variable weather conditions, offered in three colourways and designed with an all-gender fit.
HIGH PERFORMANCE. ZERO PFAS
Free from PFAS and finished with a PFC-free water-repel- lent treatment, the fabric provides protection against light drizzle. TENCELTM Lyocell fibres respond naturally to mois- ture by gently swelling, increasing fabric density, creating a natural barrier effect that reinforces protection without the need for a membrane.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION: FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION
Designed digitally using CLO3D, the windbreaker prioritises function through a refined, minimalist aesthetic. With practical performance at its core, this windbreaker features a clean, inclusive silhouette designed to fit across genders that packs down easily, ideal for travel, commuting and everyday use.
Careful attention to detail underpins the design: 99.9% of the trims are crafted from non-synthetic, non–oil-based alternatives. Purpose-developed components significantly reduce fossil content, with only a small amount of plastic remaining in the zipper due to current unavoidable technical limitations.
CELLULOSE FIBRES MEET FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE
TENCELTM Lyocell fibres are sourced from certified or controlled wood and manufactured by Lenzing AG, headquartered in Lenzing, Austria, in a resource-saving, closed-loop production process*. Compared to conventional, unbranded lyocell fibres, they require at least 50
percent less water and cause at least 50 percent less CO2e emissions, based on LCA standards (ISO 14040/44) available via Higg MSI (version 3.8).
Ultra fine, high-tenacity TENCELTM Lyocell yarns are spun in Taiwan, enabling a fabric that delivers functional capabilities long associated almost exclusively with synthetic materials.
Hermin Textile weaves this into a densely constructed ripstop fabric, made entirely from yarns of 100% TENCELTM Lyocell fibres. Thousands of the finest fibres are processed using a special weaving technique that gives the fabric a smooth, textured surface.
The material is then permanently compacted through pressure and temperature. This process, based on principles of geological compaction, increases the material density and provides up to 97% wind resistance, giving the fabric its characteristic, slightly lustrous appearance.
Performance outerwear is still heavily reliant on polyester, polyamide and chemical finishes. While recycled options improve existing systems, they don’t replace them.
Meanwhile, demand for functional clothing suited to everyday urban life is increasing. With this new windbreaker design, ARMEDANGELS demonstrates that functional requirements
such as wind resistance, breathability and comfort can be achieved using renewable, nature-based materials without synthetic fibres, membranes or PFAS.
