ALLYSON WHITMELL – ‘CRACK IN MY WINDOW’ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I’d recommend cozying up with a hot chocolate!

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new single, Crack in my Window, is out now on all platforms! You can find both the full song and the instrumental track with strings and piano.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I’m a fan of time travel shows and books, so it’d be neat if some of those time travel conspiracies were actually true.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Chic with a romantic flair.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I grew up listening to my parents play and sing songs by singer-songwriters from the 70s, and this inspired me to write story songs of my own. Some of my songs also focus on letting go and looking ahead when going through a time of transition like my new song Crack in my Window. Whenever I go through a transition, I feel compelled to capture those often conflicting feelings, and I hope those musical reflections and the stories I write can help others heal and move forward.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I play pretty good tennis! I also have grapheme-colour synesthesia which means letters and numbers have inherent colours in my brain. e.g. A is red, 3 is green, etc.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

My music can be described as cinematic pop.

I love writing narrative story songs.

I come from a classical and musical theatre background.

I write and play the piano arrangements in my songs.

I love building harmony stacks.

The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

My parents have been huge supporters of my music career which has meant so much to me! My high school music teacher was also instrumental in encouraging me to keep pursuing music in post-secondary and beyond.

A question you’d like to answer but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

I’ve never been asked what my favourite songs to cover are. I love taking guitar songs such as Livin‘ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi or Something in the Orange by Zach Bryan and turning them into piano ballads.
