Even though the bathroom is much more of a functional room than say, your bedroom or living room, this does not mean the area needs to lack style. What is more, there are scientifically proven benefits to spending more time in the shower or bath to both physical and mental health and a relaxed and clean space can only serve to help.

With this in mind, here is how to make even the smallest of bathrooms stylish and impressive.

Concentrate on Bohemian Textures

There is, believe it or not, a huge advantage to a smaller bathroom and that is the ease with which you can make the room feel warm and relaxing.

Choose earthy tones in bathroom accessories like towels and jars for the windowsill to create a Bohemian, forest feel. For extra style points, you could even think about replacing your bathroom tiles with a light brown or mustard-coloured ornate tile display instead.

Other key stylistic accents indicative of a Bohemian-themed bathroom include, amongst a wide plethora of others, the following:

  • Folk-style artwork, prints & ornaments
  • Wooden shelving and cabinet units
  • Hints of coral, turquoise and browns
  • Shells
  • Dreamcatchers over the window
  • Tassled and printed bathroom rug

Create an Intimate Vibe

One of the ways estate agents like to put their characteristic spin on a smaller room within a home is to label it as ‘intimate’, but the bathroom is certainly one room where you can indeed create an intimate and warm ambience, regardless of the size.

The most effective and multi-beneficial way to achieve this is to look into small radiators for bathrooms, which can not only act as a stylish replacement for an older, larger, and off-white radiator which has been there since you moved in, but also work to both warm and ventilate the space.

Make the Most of Vertical Space

It would be accurate to say that you are not ‘swimming’ in floor space, so instead, it is time to turn your attention to utilizing vertical space.

An excellent example of a method to achieve this is to either upcycle yourself or else purchase, a vertical wooden ladder, which is a stylish and impressive way to dry your towels. When it comes to bathroom storage in general, it should go without saying that you should lift any storage off the floor and onto the wall instead.

Houseplants & Mirrors

Although houseplants and mirrors are two entirely different things, when it comes to transforming a small and pokey bathroom into an intimate and stylish one, you simply cannot go far wrong with the strategic placement of both. Plus, it doesn’t cost a lot of money to do so.

Hang a long, rectangular mirror over the sink and perhaps on a floating shelf or else a bathroom cabinet and trail a warm and moisturising indoor plant across it. Taller plants will act as a statement piece for the room and will also serve to soften the corners and even make the space feel slightly bigger.
