Zac Hurst – ‘Falling In Love On My Own’ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

I’m Zac Hurst, a musician from East London with a passion for all things music, performing, producing and writing

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new track ‚Falling In Love on My Own‘ is a modern pop ballad centred around a socially distanced love. I wrote it during the first Lockdown, being away from someone I wish I could have been closer to. I’ve been playing this song on instagram live streams for around a year now, with some of my followers knowing all of the words, so it’s a massive relief to be able to finally put the music out there for everyone to hear. The song is out now, and the music video premieres on Thursday 8th July at 8:30, on my YouTube Channel (Zachurstmusic) featuring two Tik Tok stars, Shan Wills and Ryan Snellings, who have around 2 million followers combined. There’s a live version of the song coming out soon too!

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I write, record, and produce all of my songs in my studio at home.

Interestingly, in my songwriting process, lyrics are usually the last thing to come to me, I like to think of them as the sprinkles on a 99 ice cream.

I’m a John Mayer fan boy, for me, he is the God of songwriting with 6 strings.

Throughout the pandemic, I have been doing weekly livestream shows on instagram in the UK, USA, South Africa, France, and other countries.

I play the guitar, bass and piano parts in all my songs.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

If I had to sum up my style in one word, I’d say ‚Denim‘, I’m a sucker for a denim Jacket and black jeans.

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit

My guilty pleasure is definitely Britney, when ‚Hit me Baby‘ comes on I will be first to the dance floor. As for bad habits, I would say nervously going for a pee way too often, especially before gigs, but I think that’s common amongst performers

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Besides music, I’m pretty good with Rubik’s cubes. Usually I can solve one in under a minute, with my record being 33 seconds. I also like to skateboard every now and then.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Being on stage feels like home. I’ve performed regularly, from such a young age it’s ingrained in me. Being on stage is when I’m at my happiest.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

Wardrobe Must Have – Denim Jacket   … Wardrobe No go – Ripped Jeans. Torn clothes are not my style at all!

I regularly use Hugo Boss aftershave, either that or David Beckham’s. I tend not to wear many fashion brands, but if I had to pick my favourite, I’d probably say Vans, it definitely fits in with my image, and I do love to skateboard too.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What do you think is the best song ever written? For me, it’s bohemian rhapsody, and I’ll tell you why. It’s a 6 minute piece, with about 5 songs in one, yet everyone knows the entire song word for word. I think that’s incredibly unique, I don’t know if you’ll find a 6 minute song today that holds up like that does.
