Please describe yourself and your brand and its evolution in the past seasons.
I created the brand having the urge to express my creativity and my love for fashion; it was a way to spread the Greek culture and diversity to the modern men around the world. Talking about me is not my thing I prefer to let my designs speak to you. Modus Vivendi is the Male Way of Life as we see it.
It is the Male Way of Life we support and promote through our designs and work. A man who loves and cares for himself, loves fashion and has values. Some of our values are below:
M – Meter – by the Greek saying: παν μέτρον άριστον -> all in moderation, to live in balance
O – Originality – we create unique collections inspired by the world around us
D – diversity – we support and advocate for diversity and we urge men to express theirs via our designs
U – Utopia – we do believe in good; as optimists, we hope we contribute to a better world
S – Sensuality – we create collections to enable men express their sexuality and sensuality
V – victory – we are here for the victory; having the dream to be in all men’s closets
I – Idealism – we don’t compromise on our ideals; we do what we do because we love it
V – Vision – our vision is to deliver a new experience in underwear fashion with the Male way of life
E – Elegance – we create elegant collections that match our aesthetics and become timeless
N – Neoterism – our main goal to create designs that are unique, edgy and original
D – Directness – we try to be direct in our messages and our creations; there is transparency in everything we do
I – Ithaca – we find inspiration on our Greek roots and we never forget the wise words from Kavafis poem Ithaca:
As you set out for Ithaka
hope the voyage is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Best and toughest part of designing a menswear collection.
Best part is the creative expression and the fun you have designing. Toughest part is the route the Sales and Marketing department wants to follow.
What sources of inspiration are your biggest influence?
Modus Vivendi creations draw inspiration from Greece’s iconic pictures and history. We connect with our roots using designs from ancient Greece [Meander, Iconic]. We grow the brilliant minds and ideas that have come before us; we’re taking them ahead to influence men in different ways. We blend our Creative Talent with Life, Art, Architecture & People; whether it is a painter, a filmmaker, a music scheme, or a famous person we love and we translate all these for the modern men.
What was your favorite collection so far?
The Retro Greece feels dear to me as it was the first campaign that made Modus Vivendi popular around the world.
How much of your success do you credit to the education you had?
I strongly believe in talent and perseverance, education is a base you build on.
What genre of music best describes your collection?
At this point Born This Way by Lady Gaga ☺
How do you choose your models for your shows and campaigns?
Depending on location, concept and target audience we choose the most appropriate model and naturally what the photographer would prefer.
Do you have any favorite male models?
We do prefer beautiful people inside and out, character is very important to us.
Where do you plan to take your brand next?
Our goal is to be in every man’s drawers. We experimenting with new materials to become more sustainable and we plan to keep living our Male Way of Life supporting diversity. Stay close and see what happens …
Beside fashion – do you have any special talents?
I very much enjoy gardening and cooking it’s a form of art and meditation that apart from fashion keeps me whole.
