LAVISH K – NEW SINGLE “YO SHO” + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

My name is Lavish K and I was born and raised in South London, near Kennington. I have always had a love for music, but I decided to only properly pursue a career in music just over a year ago. I started rapping for fun in order to entertain my friends at school during lunch breaks. However, after getting some good feedback from them that is what motivated me to take music seriously and here we are.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

So my latest single ‘Yo Sho’ was inspired by Chance the Rapper as he makes very uplifting and positive music. Music that you can start your day with as it puts you in a really good mood. Also, I love live instrumentation which you can hear on the track itself. Right now music wise I just want to push out a few singles all with high quality visuals in order to build momentum before working on an album as I want to get myself out there more and really raise my profile you know. I prefer making this type of music as opposed to the UK drill sound that I was focusing on before as I feel that this sound brings a fresh new vibe and is what we as a country need right now. In terms of touring, myself and my team will have to wait until the COVID situation has calmed down as there is nothing I can really do right now. I am desperate to get out and start performing as soon as possible though. So once our government gives the go ahead for gigs to resume in the UK again I will be on it.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

5 things, hmmm. Ok so first off I would say that I don’t like wearing big chains or having jewellery on display, even if I had the money to afford it, me, I would rather have something smaller and less flashy like say for example grills in my mouth.

The second thing is that I’m 5’8. Thirdly I am very energetic and vibrant as an artist. Whenever I am in the studio laying down a verse or performing live I always give it my all. Fourth point, when I’m not performing or writing I spend a lot of time listening to music by other artists in order to find inspiration. Lots of people my age play video-games in their downtime, but even though I’m young I don’t really play videogames at all. My fanbase do though and that is why I decided to give away a brand new PlayStation 5 to one lucky fan in a competition that I decided to put on in order to hype up the new single. Lastly, I love to travel and hate staying in one place for too long. So when I get bored I decide to rent luxury apartments for me and my friends to chill and relax in as that gives me freedom and peace of mind you know.

4. What can we expect 2021 from you?

Hopefully by Spring 2021 COVID has all cleared up so I can start doing shows as I am looking to release a lot of music before then. I can’t wait to perform all the songs I have been working on live. My whole fanbase have been pressuring me to release new music as it did take a while for this single to come out. The reason why is because I am a perfectionist and I want to ensure that every single song I make sounds better than the last one. I really take my time and hone my craft with each release. Also, expect me to be on the bill for a few festivals next year too. That is if COVID has all cleared up by then.

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

I have bad habits like we all do, you know drinking and smoking too much but I don’t really want to get into any of that as I want to be a good role model to my fans. This song is nothing but positive vibes and that is the message I really want to convey going forward. I would say that my guilty pleasure would have to be girls as lots of them think I’m cute but I don’t want to get distracted. My main focus is music now.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Being totally honest with you, besides music I don’t really have any special talents. I am interested in acting though and would love to pursue that in the future as my career grows. Also, when I was younger I was able to do a handstand for ages and could even walk in a handstand for quite a while. I was pretty athletic as a kid, I can’t lie haha.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

I’ve only been on stage once and that was a few years back for Teen Fest which is a big event in South London. I still remember it all today, the whole thing felt like a movie, just feeling the crowd’s energy and seeing them scream my name. It was all just so electrifying. That performance was just a teaser though and will not compare to any of the upcoming shows I will be doing in the near future. This whole COVID situation is just so frustrating as all live shows are on pause which affects the whole music industry. So it is a tough time for everyone but I know we will all bounce back. We always do.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

The main must have in my wardrobe is Nike Tech. They are like my favourite piece of clothing and if it was up to me I would wear one every day of the week but they are expensive now and my manager says we don’t have the budget for that at the moment haha. My favourite fragrance is most definitely Tom Ford fabulous. Love that smell.  A No Go will have to be all of my old stuff I used to wear before I started rapping but I don’t want to get into all of that right now lol.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Hmmm, a question that I would like to answer but have never been asked has to be who is my celebrity crush? Hopefully she will be reading this, so I can shoot my shot through this interview lol. The answer is ….Jorja Smith. Jorja if you see this, let’s collaborate, you can sing my hook on the next single yeah? Haha, on a serious note though it would be great to make a track with her one day.
