„It began with a dream. Two friends sat on a hill at sunset, looking into the distance at an Art Deco city skyline.
Everything around the city was a desert, though there was no sand in sight. The whole desert was made of a sort of semi-soft silicon with faint lines underneath, like patterns of a motherboard under the desert’s milky surface.
„Silicon Hill“ is a nod to the time I have spent in California’s Silicon Valley at events such as the Game Developers Conference, spending many nights year after year with passionate artists and programmers, getting high on talk of the future.
This song melds organic and synthetic elements while deeply imagining the futuristic landscapes that informed this music. „Silicon Hill“ is taken from my self-titled album out now, which was informed by my own relationship with technology.
As I worked on this record with my long-time collaborators, Nate Kreiswirth (Fellow Nameless) and Martyn Skrzypczyk (Us and Others), I considered the time which I spent consumed in the fictional worlds of Sierra games as a kid, and how those stories have affected my real-world self.“
