Jared Alto – debut single „Open“ + Exclusive Interview

Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

I’m Jared and I’m an independent singer/songwriter based in Hackney Wick in East London. In a competition to find out who had the most unconventional journey into music, I think I’d do very well. I’ve been pretty secretive about singing most of my life, but one drunken Gumtree message to a vocal coach changed that for the better.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My first track Open is out now, but it was written back in Autumn 2019. Open is about appreciating the little moments in life, the ones we tend to take for granted with someone. It shows glimpses of things that would never make it a social media feed. We only stop to remember little details once it’s too late. And when it is too late, we’re haunted by the doubts and regrets. Open is the first of a series of releases and I’m so excited to finally share it.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

My songs are based on real experiences in my life I don’t try to filter or romanticise life, I want my music to reflect reality – which is messy I thrive in collaboration. I really believe that collaborating with other people is the key to lifting your creativity to a new level I write all my songs at the piano just by playing basic chords (which I originally picked up from a YouTube video) It’s a bit crazy, but until now, nobody had even heard me sing before – it was a pretty big shock to most people in my life actually

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I’d describe my music as introspective, melancholic and reflective. It’s definitely pop music, but leans towards alt-pop in terms of the themes I write about. I write songs to make you reflect, to remember but most importantly to make you feel. So why don’t we say Ray-Ban, a brand that can literally help with big reflections.

Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

I have bad habits. I’d say overthinking and worrying too much about what other people think. But they’re definitely not guilty pleasures, there’s no pleasure in those habits.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Besides music, I also run a large Content Marketing team for one of Europe’s most successful FinTech companies.

Being on stage feels like….!

… a question from a different reality. Living in London’s lockdown means I haven’t even had a haircut in months.

Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

Must have: White t-shirts. I wear them daily and just change up what I layer on top

No-go: Short sleeve shirts. I’m a tall skinny man, the proportions just don’t work for me

Favourite Fashion Brand: I LOVE the ethos and the story behind Patagonia

Favourite Fragrance: My all time favourite is Juniper Sling by Penhaligon’s, but my everyday fragrance is La Nuit De L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What do you hope will come of releasing this song?

That’s such a great question, I’m glad you asked. For me the most amazing outcome would be to meet new people and collaborate with more creatives and musicians and make amazing things together.
