Interview – Kwazi Cort – ‘Trill Fairy’ + new EP ‘Blood On The English Carpet’

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Kwazi Cort the – next up, Guyanese, South London, esoteric, innovative grockstar!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I’ve recently just dropped my highly anticipated single Trill fairy music video, which is now available everywhere, along with my latest EP “Blood On The English carpet” where I mix the sounds of Grime rap with Rock to create a sound out of this world.

There will be random busking tour dates where I perform around the UK, to keep the live performance side of my artistry alive and also connect with the people.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I recorded my first tape in Paris and surprisingly not London.  Sounds luxurious but I promise you when you don’t speak French it’s much harder than it seems, both to get a croissant and tell the producer how you want the track to sound.

I fuse the sounds of grime and rock and created a sound called Grock.

I travelled to four continents from which I pull elements to inspire my music and sounds.

I sing part time like Wyclef, and you should keep your eyes peeled for something along those lines.

I was born at 3am… so I think it makes me work better at night and nearly all my songs come from night shifts.

4. What can we expect 2020 from you?

More documentaries, interviews, parties, and overall more turnt up lifestyle. Of course more festivals too.. If the powers that be allow that.

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

Ice-Cream… because I’m vegan. I look at the vegan ice-cream and still reach for the normal one. It’s bad I know hah!

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I guess being self-sufficient, I can make things happen… I know the word seems played out, but I think being a young entrepreneur is a talent itself. To put plainly I think I’m a good talker, with an interesting story. A new and fresh perspective is almost priceless and allows me to paint a picture of both sides of life in conversation and on a track.

7. Being on stage feels like…!

Feels like you’re alive, your heart is beating, your friends and family are watching and you feel like you’re going to step on stage and give out your life.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

My MUST has to be a biker jacket! You can walk on stage have a show, house party, smoke a few and still the ash wont damage it, makes your shoulders look broader and they can be worn with anything.

In an ideal world: 20 black biker jackets, 20 blacks jeans and 20 black Louboutins.

I don’t know about about nevers… I just never have it. Matter of fact, I never had red trousers.

Fragrance, Arabian Oud.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

How long would it take for you to take over the world?

In 3 months and 2 days you should keep your peeled for something I’m working with in collaboration with the F1.
