F/L/P dropped „Kiss That“ + Exclusive Interview

Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hello! Thank you for having me! My name is Philip, I’m going by the artist name F/L/P, pronounced actually as PHILIP. I’m a 22 year old singer, songwriter and producer from Norway. I make music because it gives me goosebumps and I can’t live without it.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I have just released my new single “Kiss That”, which is available on all streaming platforms NOW! AND! Just recently, I also released my first official music video of my another single – “Sensual Fever”, check it out on Youtube and VEVO, NOW!

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  • Independent Norwegian artist with Russian roots, studying music in the U.S. and having a global mindset
  • I like experiments and surprises. My next song or music project can come just out of the blue and sound totally differently from what I’ve done before
  • I am obsessed with perfectionism. Here I don’t like any surprises. My fans can always expect high quality music production without a compromise
  • If you like my music when listening to it at home, I guarantee you will like it even more when you experience it Live.
  • I love making irregular crossovers of music genres, styles and colors, as that’s always been ME, since I listened to and played all kinds of different stuff growing up. In fact, that’s what my favourite fashion brands are all about as well – crossover.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

As you may guess, both in fashion and music, I  prefer fusion and mix of styles and emotions without creating a „riot“ – a kind style of „Provocative Elegance“. I always aim for my music to be sophisticated, not necessarily in genre, but in quality and distinctiveness, while it can still be rough and raw in the core of the songwriting and performance, kinda like Diesel and Ambush, so I would say those two.

Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

I can be pretty impatient, I like getting things done. But I’m also a perfectionist, which makes it hard to get all things done, hehe. A guilty pleasure I can’t quit would be eating Norwegian chocolate, if you haven’t tasted yet, you’re not prepared. It’s impossible to break free!

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Well, I’m also good at developing and maintaining relations, launching new ideas and attracting other talented people. I just love people. These days such an attitude can, probably, be considered as a talent, haha.

Being on stage feels like….!

Being on stage feels like … Flying. Just unlimited happiness and energetic boost.  The stage feels like home to me. It’s where I can express my soul in the most natural way.

Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

Must-have would be my bracelets, necklaces and sunglasses. My taste in clothing changes over time, but I always need my accessories as my personal ornaments. As long as I have them with me, I might as well just wear my morning robe, my chains and nothing else.

A no-go for me would probably be those purses or big side-bags… Except for those very small messenger bags, they’re cute. Otherwise, I suppose I’m a backpack guy, hehe.

My favorite fashion brand would be Scandinavian COS. I love their contemporary style which is rather minimalistic, yet is the one that shows most distinctiveness in the room. I also admire Scotch & Soda, Lacoste and Diesel among many others. I love seeking vintage clothes in the Camden Market in London, as I’m a huge fan of British retro fashion. I’m also a sucker for Adidas sneakers. They’re so comfortable and flawless in design. In fact, I’ve been wearing Superstar models for years since I was a little kid.

As to sunglasses, I really like Tom Ford, Gentle Monster and Taylor Morris. My favorite fragrances are Jo Malone and Atelier Cologne. Perfumes are not supposed to change your brand and style, but rather accompany, match and intensify even better what you already are, and that’s exactly what these do to me.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Question:

Which musician, whose clothing style, matches their music the most for you?

Answer:

In this case, I would differentiate clothing style from stage outfit as that’s, definitely,  two widely different aspects of fashion.

In terms of clothing style, those two who come to mind are Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode and the late Michael Hutchence from INXS.

Depeche Mode’s music was always considered the darker type of new wave with their minimalist electronic grooves, dark instrumental tones and soulful baritone vocals. Kind of like Velvet Underground and Kraftwerk together. Dave’s always wearing black, particularly, leather and black shades. It’s like you always think of him as living in that role constantly as this dark soul of their music.

Michael Hutchence had a very characteristic presence both on and off stage, it’s both funky and sophisticated, just like INXS’ elegant refined groovy music.
