Dillistone – Body On Fire Feat. NOËP + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

I’m a creative love child of a bunch of different countries with a really bad 9-5 retention rate.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

So I just released my latest single ‘Body on Fire’ with the amazing NOËP from Estonia! It’s a dark dancey track that we made in Italy after drinking too much wine and I would really love it if you checked it out, I’m a solid 78% sure you will like it. This year I’m really trying to break my bad habit of not releasing for ages so I’m aiming to get a song out every month (it’s harder than I thought). I’ve got a few tracks locked and loaded and ready to go but it’s a little secret still haha Otherwise I’m writing and producing a lot for others too, particular for an amazing new artist called Nina Chuba. On a bit of a creative curve ball note, I’ll also be writing for the Eurovision in a few weeks so I need everyone to cross their fingers and toes pretty please.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I started my career by hosting illegal club nights in China when I was 16 I originally trained as an actor (BA Hons. and everything) but was terrrriiiible at auditioning My vibe is most often happy melancholic and a little chill I’ve been releasing independently since day one and still going strong ‘Dillistone’ comes from the road I lived on in University together with 3 sound engineers and where I learnt most of what I know.

4. What can we expect 2020 from you?

A bunch of great songs to cry or dance or chill to – and a bunch of terrible unfunny TikToks and Reels. I’d also really love to get some beautiful video content to back up the project visually (*working on it).

5. Do you have bad habits?

A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit? Buying pretty plants and then killing them because I don’t understand how to take care of them wah. I think I’ve lost maybe 20+ succulents in the last year. And buying antiques I don’t need. I’m out of floor space but damn Berlin has some gold and I’ll be damned if don’t fill my apartment wall to wall with DDR furniture. I live in Friedrichshain after all haha

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I can do a good Smaug impression and I’m pretty damn good at the online video game Overwatch. I think I’m OK at cooking too, but I’m biased.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Fear. And then no fear. And then the biggest dopamine rush. Feeling and reading a crowd and the interaction between us is wild.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

Must have: A soft and fluffy bath robe to spend all Sunday in. As many plain black crew neck T-shirt’s as your wardrobe will fit and that you are legally allowed to own in Berlin. A good mix of statement pieces to blend with your basics, a few different colour coordinated combos and a really good rain jacket.

No-Go: There isn’t really any faux pas for me in fashion, you rock you and what you feel great in, but personally I’m trying to move away from my printed T-shirt’s. I feel like 2020 Dillistone is on more of a solid colour or black/white kinda vibe. I think it’s a good way to transition into what I think my cool-dad vibe will be in the far future – without waiting for a midlife crisis. But printed shirts are still mega in.

AND OOOOOO so I recently ran out of all my colognes and I got one of those little plastic test things for Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Wood & Wood (I copied that from google, too many apostrophes) and that’s my new smell for the next while. I’m very committed to how I smell, I’ve used the same Hugo Boss deodorant for 10 years haha I like natural notes that aren’t too heavy and are more ‘dinner with the in-laws’ than ‘2 for 1 tequilas shots’.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?!

+Answer pls Why do you still work in FruityLoops Studio???? BECAUSE ITS ALL I KNOW FIGHT ME IRL, ILL BEAT YOU WITH MY STEP SEQUENCER. Also it’s cheaper. (jk I love you all)
