1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!
Hey I’m Ben Haenow, a singer and songwriter from the UK, I’m 36 years old and a Capricorn.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
My cover of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ is out now and exclusively available on the new ‘Café Covers’ album from Double J Music. It’s all very chilled acoustic vibes on the album and it features a load of stripped back covers of some of your favourite songs from various different artists so it’s really cool to be involved.
Aside from that, with the lockdown taking hold of this year, it’s been more a time for writing new material, experimenting and trying new things with music to keep myself motivated and interested. I’ve been keeping busy and really enjoying writing with and for other artists at the moment too. More new original material to come soon for sure! And I can’t wait to finally get back out and play some live shows once restrictions are lifted!
3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
I won The X Factor UK back in 2014, my debut single ‘Something I Need’ went to Christmas number one, I’ve performed on stage with legends such as Ed Sheeran and Queen, I’ve done four headline UK tours and I released my charity single ‘If You’re Lonely’ last year in aid of mental health awareness.
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
The brand OFF-WHITE is one of my favourites. Really cool style and always a little different from the norm! They do a lot of collaborations and come out with some killer collabs with other brands that I love too!
5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?
Over the lockdown, I’ve become pretty addicted to the TV show ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’. It’s a show where people make stuff out of clay… like plates and pots and toilets and stuff 🙂 I really enjoy it but it’s maybe not the ‘coolest’ programme to admit to liking.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I can juggle! 3 watermelons at once is my personal best!
7. Being on stage feels like….!
Being home! I can’t wait to be able to perform again… it’s the place where I feel most at home!
8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe!
I’m a big fan of footwear, I’ve got around 40 pairs of trainers, most in boxes unworn… it’s kind of an addiction. So I’d say a good pair of trainers is a must. I can’t claim to be a fashion guru myself, but I can’t get my head around the ‘sliders and socks’ thing… or just flip flop/sandals in general. Unless you’re on a beach, just don’t do it! Not when walking around central London!
