5 Ways to Make Your Personal Style Edgier by Peter Minkoff

Dear gentlemen, behold one of the few articles that are dedicated exclusively to us and our fashion. More than ¾ of all the fashion articles online are meant only for women, and since we’re fighting for the equal rights of both sexes, it’s time we started writing articles about our fashion only. So, take a look in the mirror and decide if you like what you see. If you think that you need to add some more style or to make your look a bit edgier, then this is the right article for you. Check out all the ways that you can make your outfit and combination look more interesting, and here’s a spoiler – it’s incredibly easy!

Layer up, baby

One of the ways to make your whole outfit look much more intriguing is by opting for many layers. You shouldn’t be afraid to add some extra layers to your clothes – this is perhaps the simplest way to make a dull look more stylish. So, how can you achieve this look? It’s always important to have a t-shirt or a shirt, a sweater or a cardigan and a jacket on top of it. Make sure that everything is visible, though, as this is the key, and pay attention to the colors. If you’re wearing a sweater on top of a t-shirt, it might result in a “dull look”, no matter how expensive the sweater is. If you opt for a shirt instead of a tee, however, it’s a completely different story.

Minimalism is always the key

Even though we have just spoken about layering, it’s very important to note that this is not the opposite of minimalism. You can layer up and still be minimalistic, but it’s essential to choose your items wisely. Opting for monochromatic pieces and combining them altogether might be the simplest way to achieve this look. If you have accessories to spice things up just a notch – even better. Bear in mind that colorful and flashy pieces of clothing will only complicate your combination, and they will increase your chances of ending up looking quite ridiculous. It’s not for nothing that they say “less is more”, so remember this mantra and incorporate is as much as you can.

Know when to be the dapper

No matter how great and edgy your everyday style is, there are times when we have to opt for smart clothes, and this is where lots of men make mistakes. Having a suit is an imperative for any guy, but it’s the choice of the suit that defines us. Namely, it’s always better to have a suit that’s custom-made just for you. Let’s take the examples of Australians – they all have an amazing everyday, casual look, and they can really seem very formal when they need to. This is because they opt for the best suits there are, so choosing tailored suits in Melbourne, Sydney or any other major Australian city is something they do more often than not. This means that if you really want a suit that will accentuate the best parts of your figure and hide what needs to be hidden, live by their example.

Beware of the accessories

Nothing can make or break your outfit better than good accessories. Scarves are, for example, very passé, so it’s best to avoid them (it’s 2019 for God’s sake!). The best accessory for a guy is definitely a good watch; there is a plethora of options to choose from, and not all of them cost a lot. Moreover, you can also opt for nice silver bracelets or metal rings if you can pull them off, but make sure not to overdo it. Generally, men think that using plenty of accessories for a single combination is the right way to go, but this can look quite unusual and ineffective.

To color or not to color

Finally, colors are also quite significant. You can always go with the pastels as this is always safe, but if you really want to be bold and edgy, introduce some of the most popular colors of the year. As far as 2019 is concerned, you can incorporate the Pantone color of the year or anything that’s neon and fluorescent. Combine this with a black or white outfit, and you’re good to go.

Being edgy is not difficult, but you should know how to pull that look off. Always be proud of what you’re wearing, and it’s very important to feel comfortable in your own clothes. If you do so, then that’s it – mission accomplished!
