Miko – Crushes + Exclusive Interview

„It’s late. I’m drunk. My best friend and I are getting back from I don’t know where. I had this flash earlier that day… a few words came up in my mind: I got crushes, they’re more like crutches.

Crushes” is an ode to the fear of catching feelings. It’s the new bop to fill long nights of moody dancing and temporary romance.

Produced alongside Connor Seidel (Charlotte Cardin, Matt Holubowski, Claudia Bouvette), we overlaid some alternative instrumentals to create a minimalistic and laidback melody in a process that felt effortless.“

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

My name is Miko! I’m a french-canadian artist from Montreal.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tourdates, new videos?!

New singles every 2 months or so. No album in sight for now. Hopefully a first music video by the end of this year!

I got back to back sold out shows coming up, supporting Geoffroy in Quebec City (March 27th) and Montreal (March 28th).

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I have no idea what i’m doing.

I produce most of my songs myself.

French is my mother tongue.

Freedom is my #1 priority.

I used to hate pop music.

4. What can we expect 2020 from you?

Lots of music.

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you cant seem to quit?

I should definitely take more care of myself. I haven’t been exercising / eating well / sleeping a lot lately.

I also spend way too much time on my phone to be honest, I wish i could throw this thing away sometimes…

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I’ve always been one of those who are good at everything but great in nothing.

I can pick up pretty much anything and become good at it if I want to, but i’m tired of being all over the place, thus the reason why I focus on music now.

I want to be great in something.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Making love to a lot of people at the same time.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

Must Have: Calvin Klein tank tops

No-Go: Fedora hat

Favorite fashion brand: Brain Dead (even though i’m too broke to buy anything they do)

Favorite fragrance: Atelier Cologne

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls 🙂

Why do you do what you do?

Because art makes us human. I want people to feel something.

Also, being the soundtrack to someone’s life sounds like the coolest job ever.
