Name: Michael Carrasquillo
1. How did you get into modeling?
I was shopping around in Macy’s near my hometown and was spotted by casting directors who thought I would be a great fit to model for Macy’s 17 Magazine fashion show. This then led to a Tommy Hilfiger Fall fashion show and a gig with Acuvue Contact lenses with the same directors.
2. What are you doing if you are not modeling?
I really enjoy creating music and singing. Whenever I have time, whether on the train or in bed, I’m always song-writing or voice-recording melodies that come to me.
3. Whats the strangest thing you have done on set?
I would have to say practicing my facial expressions, not knowing that I was being watched by other models!
4. Any fashion week/casting survival tips?
Treat each booking as a chance to network and look to the future for your next booking. Don’t waste any opportunities!
Remember, being yourself will allow your true talent to shine. But most of all, have fun!
5. Describe your personal style – maybe show us some of your fav items?!
I have a whole wardrobe of looks I’d love to show you, but there isn’t enough hours in a day!
I’d say my personal style is preppy with a bit of old-school prohibition-era class. I enjoy wearing suspenders, bowties, and a fine pair of shoes.
I’ve recently returned from London and was inspired by the sharply dressed men there. I’m trying to work tweed jackets and ivy caps into my look now!
Any bright colored chinos matches my personality, too.
6. Whats your grooming regime – any beauty or workout tips?!
I avoid the sun like the plague…sun damage is no joke! Besides striving for 8 hours of sleep and always using full-body moisturizers, other regimens that I have that may seem unconventional include using placenta based shampoos and many of Tom’s of Maine natural organic products such as their deodorant and toothpastes.
As for my cardio at the gym, I love to turn up the music and dance my ass off in the aerobic room. You really work up a sweat if you have the right playlist!
7. Where are your roots?
I grew up on Long Island with my mother who is from the Dominican Republic.
8. What funny clichee about dominican people is actually is true?
I have the big Dominican booty!
9. Do you have any special Talents?
People have said they like my singing skills and are also impressed with how quickly I can come up with lyrics when I’m songwriting. And I consider my likability a talent! People always seem to open up to me immediately!
10. How much of your success do you credit to the education you had?
Zero. I credit my success to my personality, dedication, and the environment of whom I surround myself with. I have a great support system with my husband, in-laws, and close friends!
