When you’re going out on a date, the first impression is what matters the most. For this reason it’s very important to choose the outfit wisely, since it can say a lot about you, even before you have a chance to open your mouth and say “Hi”. So, in order to avoid the look that would make a girl think “Run while you still can!”we have prepared a short guide to the first date outfit.

Never be sloppy

No matter whether you go out with a girl to a fancy restaurant, the theatre, or on a picnic, don’t wear sloppy clothes. This is your first date, so you certainly want to impress her, thus you need to make an effort to look trendy and appealing. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t adjust your look to the place as well. For example, for a casual lunch, a pair of pressed khakis and a smart button-down shirt will be enough to sweep her off her feet.

Wear clothes which will highlight your masculine features

If your date is casual, our advice is that you go for a sports jacket. It will accentuate your masculine features like broad shoulders and muscular chest and these are particularly attractive to women. Another option can be a leather jacket, since nothing can look more sexy and elegant on a man than this piece of clothing. So, when choosing your outfit keep in mind that you should wear only the clothes which highlight your good parts and conceal the flaws.

Stick to a minimalist look

Sometimes, the best way to impress somebody is to keep it simple, and minimalist clothes can help you achieve this look. Well-tailored jeans can do the trick surprisingly well if paired with a nice pair of leather boots. Additionally, you can make your look more appealing by adding certain accessories, and we heartily recommend a card holder wallet to take it to the next level. This way, you will look both masculine and fashionable.

Don’t even think about wearing a logo T-shirt

We all have logo T-shirts, some of them are even our favorite ones, however, they aren’t suitable for dates, unless you’re a teenager. Women love serious men who know what they want and a T-shirt with Homer Simpson drinking beer simply won’t send the right message. The same goes for fun and novelty socks. They may suit your cheerful personality, but, when it comes to your first date, it’s definitely more on the safe side to express your fun side in some other way.

Wear perfumes

While men are more visually stimulated, women are more often attracted to men because of how they smell. For this reason, it’s very important to find a suitable perfume or cologne which is classic and masculine. However, be careful that you don’t wear too much of it, since you don’t want to cause your girlfriend-to-be a headache. Our advice is to spray it on your hair and chest as well, since it wears off too quickly on the neck.

Choose the right shoes

Finally, choosing the right shoes is of the utmost importance, and since women simply love shoes so much, there is no way she won’t check them out. You have to keep them clean, but also choose stylish ones. For example, high-quality leather lace-ups or loafers are the safest option. However, even if you have just regular sneakers, remember that everything is better than showing up on your first date wearing flip-flops. This can be a truly fatal decision.

As you can see, dressing up for a date requires careful planning. However, keep in mind that even though you should look like you’ve made an effort, don’t look as if you have made too much, since most often less is more.
