Coleman Hell – „real me“

When I wrote „real me,“ I hadn’t gone outside in months.

It was a particularly low point in my life when I began to focus on my mental health for the first time. Songwriting became a form of therapy for me.

At the time of writing, this song felt too personal, which has made it kind of hard to release. It is scary to put out something so vulnerable, but I have now reached a place where doing so feels okay.

This song is a piece of a mixtape I’m gearing up to release next year, called topanga. It’s a bit of a departure from what I’ve released in the past, and I’m excited for people to hear it.

If you take something away from „real me,“ I hope that it is accepting yourself for who you are, right now.

I kept telling myself I needed to wait for some magical moment of perfection before I could fully love myself, but I think it’s important to recognize that you can continue to grow and improve while still loving your current self.

Thank you for listening,“
