Bravur and Wingårdh launch limited edition watch

The Bravur x Wingårdh Limited Edition is a collaboration between Swedish watch brand Bravur and famous Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh and his son Rasmus Wingårdh, award winning designer. Wingårdh have interpreted Bravur’s Scandinavia model and the result is a watch inspired by the Swedish west coast and the Scandinavian light. The watch comes in a Light and Dark version, limited to only 50 pieces.

Bravur’s “Scandinavia” model was created as a tribute to its founders’ heritage and the Scandinavian design style and is one of the brand’s most popular models. With this collaboration, the homage to Scandinavian design is taken to the next level when it is interpreted by well-renowned Scandinavian designers, starting with Gert and Rasmus Wingårdh.

“We wanted to do a new take on the Scandinavia model, and let celebrated Scandinavian designers interpret what Scandinavian design is to them. Gert and Rasmus Wingårdh are both associated with characteristic design within their field and we admire how they are not afraid to challenge the conventional and take design to a new level. We were really eager to see how their design process would be translated to watch design, for example how architecture and design of really large objects would be applied to watch design”, said Bravur co-founder Johan Sahlin.

The Bravur x Wingårdh Limited Edition watch is characterized by a geometric fish scale pattern on the dial, backside and leather strap, inspired by the west coast with its fishing and seafood culture. The watch is available in two version, one sparkling white with heat blued hands, and one dark blue with brushed, luminous steel hands. The light and the dark appearances are reflecting the changing presence of light in the Scandinavian seasons.

“As an architect you always have to take light into consideration, and I wanted light to play an important part in our watch design as well. I got inspiration from my love for the west coast and the organic, yet perfect geometric, fish scale pattern is a beautiful visual detail that also reflects light in an attractive way. The pattern, with its unique play with light, creates a compelling and unique watch. I like playful and bold designs with a purpose when it comes to buildings, but also when designing watches”, said Gert Wingårdh.

The Wingårdh Limited Edition watch has a new sleek and elegant case that has a smaller diameter, 37 mm instead of 39 mm as the other Scandinavia models, making it work well for both men and women. The Swiss movement was specifically chosen for its mere 3.6- millimeter vertical dimension, helping to keep the watch thin.

“When working with minimalistic designs all details must be extremely well-thought through, and that is what I love about Scandinavian design and why designing our own version of the Scandinavia model was an opportunity we couldn’t say no to. This watch is the perfect accessory for style conscientious consumers that appreciate Scandinavian design, both men and women. The pattern on the dial makes the watch stand out while still being timeless”, said Rasmus Wingårdh.

The watch is a limited edition with only 50 pieces made of each version. Each watch is individually numbered by a small peripheral dot in the minute track.
