Fresh from her intoxicating performance at The Great Escape, R&B artist Allana Verde releases her third EP ‘Past Midnight’, a sensual, late-night narrative enveloped in lush 90s pop and dreamy electronic synths.
The four-track EP takes you on a journey of an all-nighter, from midnight until the sun begins to rise. Alongside the sugary electronica of lead single ‘6am’, the EP includes the synth heavy ‘12:01am’, featuring legendary London MC Mercston. As the night progresses, ‘2am’ details the predictable conclusion of any late-night escapade, proving Allana’s effortless ability to produce a relevant record brimming with youthful vitality.
Allana offers a little detail behind ‘Past Midnight’s concept creation: “For me, great music is relatable music, and this EP is just that: relatable and fun! I wanted each track to be a little different and set a particular mood for the evening. It was so much fun creating this project and I recorded the entire thing in four days with some amazing artists.”
Performing at The Great Escape in May, Allana took part in Urban Development’s biggest ever showcase, joining the likes of Hackney MC Paigey Cakey and Birmingham’s rising rapper Lady Sanity. The performance showcased her enviable live talent and artistic allure – on and off the stage.
With support so far from i-D, The FADER, Complex and 1Xtra’s Trevor Nelson, all eyes are on North London’s emerging new artist and her bold ‘Past Midnight’ project.
