On the video, Alex describes, „Soon as I was done producing the song, I knew I had to incorporate visuals. Just like the song, I want the video to depict an almost palpable sense of pain and loss, even though it’s tranquil at first look. It’s chaotic, but it’s also calm. That is how I felt about this guy — he wouldn’t reciprocate so I had a war in my mind, but he never knows..“
„still mine“ was released last month and is available for streaming everywhere now here. First debuting with the The Line of Best Fit here, the track rides a subtle line between lush R&B and industrial pop and is the first taste of alextbh’s 2018 output and a bold one at that. Describing „still mine,“ alextbh notes, „Very excited to see people reacting to ‚Still Mine‘; to me pushing the queer POC narrative. We exist, we get heartbroken, and we expect to have songs that reflect just that.“
Living openly gay and unafraid to proudly embody his queer identity, alextbh is an anomaly among a highly conservative and unaccepting Malaysian society where the government has been outwardly and outspokenly opposed to the LGBTQ community. For him, music is not only an outlet for resistance but a platform to incite strength and resolve within his local (and global) community.
